Cranes aren't the only creatures flocking to this glorious uchikake, its stunning surface pattern a true work of art.
The rosey background turns to spring green in the middle, then deep midnight blue at the bottom, reflecting different times of day. Graceful white cranes happily soar and nest on the surface, preferring to nestle into glowing bouquets of flowers. Chrysanthemums, pine, bell flowers and wisteria shine in intricate embroidery, while water flows in sparkling gold lacquer.
The luxurious red lining is accented by the generous padding of the bottom hem, giving this uchikake a wonderful shape. |
