| Antique BRONZE MIRROR Cranes, Turtle & Takasago Script |

This elegant pale copper tone handled E-kagami mirror is a true treasure of the Edo period. With intricate detailing, this masterwork will make a wonderful centerpiece for your collection or fantastically unique gift!
A tranquil scene unfolds on the bronze side of this e-kagami. Graceful cranes soar through the clouds and rest by a peaceful stream, shaded by an old pine tree and bamboo shoots. A mino-kame turtle reveals his lucky tail of sea algae as he looks to one side. The background is made up of a shimmery textural pattern of tiny dots, while shining kanji for the Noh play Taka Sago appears on the surface.
Upon the other side, the antique mirror has been beautifully preserved, reflecting a bright image back to you.
The artist's name is Shigetsugu from the old province of Izumi as inscribed on the left. |
