| Antique Wooden SOROBAN ABACUS No.2 |

This manual Japanese calculator is called a 'soroban'. Once used as an essential tool in everyday life, some Japanese still prefer to use it instead of a calculator.
It's made of a rectangular wooden frame containing seventeen parallel vertical rods divided by a wooden crossbar into two secitions. The upper section contains two beads and the lower section, five beads.
If you are an abacus user, you might find this one a little difficult to use because the beads do not move fast from the age stains on the metal rods. Nevertheless, you can display this piece with no problems as it is in very good condition. The wooden frame has acquired a nice smooth texture and aged patina.
