The color of this sumptuous obi is a very pale moss green, creating a natural setting for the lavish pine trees, romantic peonies and little chrysanthemums growing by the rocks.
With graceful open wings and trailing tail feathers, the phoenixes are a sweeping vision of grace and beauty. They seem to be at home in this enchanting landscape.
The phoenixes are woven with ivory, brownish olive and greenish olive threads, which become fuller and richer towards the Taresaki end, which is defined by three golden bands.
With its unusual color and artistic woven design, this obi would be a fine addition to any antique obi collection. |
