This Furisode kimono has a charm and grace that only an antique kimono has.
The dusky salmon or pinkish terracotta body color is soft and demure, and an intoxicatingly beautiful, vivid red silk lines it. The silk fabric is soft and supple throughout.
The gorgeous scalloped fans on the sleeves, front shoulders and hem, both on the outside and inside are ornately decorated with flowers, imperial carriages and patterned shells for the shell matching game in tasteful colors like lavender, olive, cinnamon and steel blue.
The fans are embellished with ribbons of red, white and blue that dance and swirl in the air. Stylized chrysanthemums and plum flowers tumble over them to enhance the joyful mood.
There are five family crests at the shoulder line completing this elegant piece of artwork. The top to bottom of the long flowing sleeve measure 42 inches. |
