| Antique BRONZE MIRROR Thousand Crane |

This unusual hand-mirror depicts many cranes flying in the sky and resting by the waterside.
The two bold characters in the middle read "Maizuru" (the dance of cranes), such a romantic word for such a beautiful design. The designer's artistic mind and the carver's skill have brought the graceful birds to life and a mirror so delightful to behold.
The inscription on the left indicates this mirror being of top quality (Tenka Ichi) and the signiature of the maker, Yoshitsugu after the clan name, Fujiwara.
This precious mirror can be displayed on a wall, using a spring and brass plate hanger or a pair of screw hooks at the neck of the handle. It is beautifully polished, and has the same brilliant shine as two hundred years ago, making it quite ready for actual use. |
