| Archival Framed Antique Obi Fabric, Cranes & Boat |

The fabric and design of what was the luxurious Maru obi chosen for framing, was always and will remain, a work of art. It was made in the Meiji (1868-1912) to Taisho (1912-1926) Periods, from a silk mixture with gold metallic threads highlighting the crane's wings and pine boughs.
Two cranes, bonded for life, fly over a boat bouncing on curling waves. Surrounded by plum blossom, pine boughs and bamboo - the three friends of winter - this scene was intended to bring good fortune to the wearer. In the upper left corner, tortoise shells, a sign of long life, are centered with cherry blossoms, the epitome of Japanese springtime. Soft and gentle tones of green peach and blue merge with ivory and gold.
The chosen acid-free archival matting will preserve this treasure for your family to enjoy for generations to come, tastefully encased with a mock-bamboo burnished gold frame.
Please note: All fabrics have been professionally matted and framed, but due to the nature of the fabric, the fabric surface may gently ripple over time. |
