This attractive woodblock print originates from a rare Taisho period book "Soshimonyo Shu" (Collection of Edo Period Book Cover Illustration) published by Mariya-Gabo in 1926.
The print is attached to a larger and thicker, plain Washi paper, with the name of the book, author and/or woodblock artist shown along the main design (some prints do not have writings).
The interesting patterns and pictures on each print directly or indirectly illustrate the story of the book they are made for, and are tastefully colored and designed.
