The deep olive lining extends into the sleeves on this elegant haori. The lighter back panel shares two framed scenes with us that transport us to a more tranquil space.
The foreground shows a quiet beach harbor with tiny boats moored in the calm waters. The view from an inland hill allows us to see merchants selling their wares; perhaps fish caught in their small boats.
The second scene takes us deeper into wooded hills where two people enjoy tea in a small house balanced on steep, isolated and wooded slopes.
There are five family crests at the shoulder level on the handsome black exterior. |
