| Antique CANDLE STAND from Japanese Temple |

From the Meiji period, this copper alloy candlestick was used in a temple. It has a sturdy base with a flared lip and three heart shaped openings on the side.
Every flat plane is ordained with a small fretwork pattern. The openwork is scrolled and flowing and the center ball shape has bars with small beads in-between, as if to hold them open.
The element of copper in the metal is showing its age with a pleasing, soft green patina that seems to highlight the detail of the metalwork.
There is wax residue in the small saucer around the metal point that holds the candle, that reflects its former life in its country of origin, many miles away. Its surroundings were always spiritual and perhaps it will bring this gentle karma to your own home. |
