| A Set of Five Meiji Period MINIATURE PLATES, Signed |

You are viewing today a set of five Meiji period plates, each very small in size, with aesthetic crackled glazes throughout and highlights of blue and black arc patterns at the corners.
Smart black rims, comfortable dented corners, gently slanting front side and an exceptionally fine body reflects the artist's creative thoughts and taste. Made by a Meiji period potter, Gorosuke, each piece bears the artist's sign on the base.
The back of the plates show a soft gradation of milk-grey glaze on a textured surface, and the base is left sandy unrefined.
In Japan, plates of this size are called 'Mamezara' (miniature plates) and can be used to serve any fine little dishes or displayed together to enhance your home decor.
Originally a set of ten. See item C04010003 for the other five pcs. |
