A wonderful sukashi-bori (open carving) iron tsuba dated to the Edo period. The fine openwork represents eight-petalled chrysanthemum on the top and bottom, and stylized foliage and lozenge on the sides.
The lower section of the nakago hole (sword tang) is plugged with copper. Very good overall condition. Unsigned. This tsuba will be a charming addition to fine tsuba collections and an eye-catching home decor.
