Kitchen Deities - pair of happy gods -

A gorgeous pair of Daikoku (left; god of wealth) and Ebisu (right; god of fishery) wooden carvings. Made of heavy wood and slightly larger than usual Daikoku and Ebisu carvings of this type, the two have a great presence.

The carving is crisp and the overall surface has acquired a nice dark tone and luster. There is a light chip on Ebisu's chair and a few light wear over the pointed areas on both pieces, but they are in a good condition for old Edo period sculptures.

The happy gods do certainly seem to bring wealth and happiness to one's life. A wonderful pair to grace home.

Daikoku/ W: 3", H: 4 3/4", D: 3 1/8" (9.5oz)
Ebisu/ W: 3 3/8", H: 4 7/8", D: 3 1/8" (10oz)
