A beautiful wood carving of seated Ebisu, the god of fishery holding a tai fish. Note the extremely fine carving details on the joyful face and the lively body. He is laughing with eyes slightly slanting down and revealing a little tongue and dimples around his mouth.
The piece has acquired a wonderful deep colour over the years. There are no noticeable flaws except for a tiny chip on the tip of the fishes' tail and just a little wear on the edges of the carvings, but otherwise the piece is in very good condition. .
